<p>Also I took the Sat Bio (E) Us History and Math 2 in October and I am involved with my school’s Robotics team.</p>

<p>Thanks for coming here. We’re a mixture of students and adults who want to help you. You sound like a good teammate and a generous person, and colleges value such people.</p>
<p>Are you recruitable for football or skiing or another sport?</p>
<p>Where do you live (state)? Do you want to go to college in a big city, small town, suburb, middle of nowhere (or doesn’t matter)? How close to home?</p>
<p>What do you think you might want to major in? We know that many students change their minds along the way, so this is only a best guess right now. Do you have any specifics like a language offered, a chance to study in another part of the world, a hobby you want to try or continue? How do you feel about fraternities and sororities?</p>
<p>Your grades and scores might qualify you for an honors program or for merit scholarships. Interested?</p>
<p>And the big one, of course. What can your family afford? You don’t see your dad, but does he pay child support and is he willing to help pay for college? Some schools will insist on getting his financial info as part of your application for aid; if he won’t cooperate, you still have options but not as many.</p>
<p>Thank you for your reply. I am a recreational skiier. I have got some D3 offers to play football, but d3 can’t offer sports scholarships. My major choice is biomedical or biochemistry. I am filling out the nonconact noncustodial parent film, so hopefully the colleges I applied to will except that instead of his information. Also size and location does not matter to me. <p>Make a list of those d3 schools and look at each one for merit scholarships. According to their financial aid sections, do they offer any? What are the qualifications? Look for the Common Data Set in the search window. What are the scores for the last class, the 25th percentile and the 75th percentile? Do the same for GPA and class rank. How do you compare?</p>
<p>Did you take PSAT? Did you qualify for National Merit semifinalist? </p>
<p>Over in the financial aid section, there’s a thread about free rides.</p>
<p>Does your home state have any special opportunities for students with strong records and test scores? It’s likely that posters here have written about those, too.</p>
<p>Your grades are strong, though you are lacking when it comes to scores and community service. Did you have any schools in mind?</p>
<p>I would like to thank everyone for their responses! So much! I would like to fix that my family’s income is less than 30000. I am not interested in playing sports in college because of a nagging ankle injury. Some hooks, I was abused by my father, physically, I have a distinct speech impediment, I was in speech class untill my teachers saw that it was better for me to not miss my core classes than go to speech class. and I had an extremely rare and uncommon medical issue, scalded skin syndrome. I am stil looking at colleges, but Swarthmore is an early favorite. Thanks again everyone,</p>
<p>Your hooks will not be viewed as hooks by all schools. I had a very strong lisp/speech impediment to the point where you could not understand what I was saying when I was younger and a verbally abusive father and I am not even mentioning these things in my essay. We are sort of similar it seems, Swarthmore is my first choice as well (though I’m a junior). Right now Swarthmore is a reach, your grades and rank are fine, but your test scores are very low for them (you should have a 2100+). The other big issue is your ECs, it seems that you are lacking in hours (especially in the community service department) and that you did almost nothing freshman year and not much more sophomore year. If you have your heart set on Swarthmore try and re-take the SAT and focus on your “Why Swarthmore?” essay.</p>
<p>On a side note remove Salvation Army Ball Ringer and Read Across America from your resume, you have almost no hours participating in these activities.</p>
