Hey I’m Samuel I live in Boston
GPA: 2.6
I want to major in ITS/ Comp.sci

Story goes like . I messed up a few time. I know I’m not perfect but I want to at least change the way my out come is for the future. I went from a 2.99 to a 2.6 but my school was suppose to “fix” my gpa but never did … Junior year around a 2.6 or 2.56… I don’t know how to talk to my school about my issuse. I been depressed. Sad. Stressed out about college because I’m tired of looking at a school with 69% graduation rate… I want a school who can cover my the full way . I’m not perfect again. My SAT scores shouldn’t say to people am I going to be a future CEO in the world. I want to succeed but I believe no college will believe in me because of my GPA and SAT but my E/C beats everything in general. I want to own a company . I want a investment from a college that basically is willing to risk their own "name " or "title " for me. I’m obviously gifted I just been following the wrong crowd… Chasing after girls but now that I realized it those problems shouldn’t impact my grades. I decided my future but anyways I need help… I feel like I want to give up on education and just drop out because I believe NO COLLEGE would want me. I been called stupid and dumb for even thinking about Ivy league colleges but even if I apply I want to just offer colleges a offer they won’t regret but yea… Enough of my life story look at my E/C and other things about me. … Do I still have a change

Dream school northeastern , BU

I have 2aps … : AP PHYSICS B and AP GOV

The question is should I keep on trying to try to make it to the top or should I settle a little lower for what I expect for a college. I took the SAT once. . I finished my college essay.

What should I do?
And if you want to see my college essay or try to edit them or try to be in contact with me just leave your information or add me.

At the risk of sounding like a ******, I’m just going to ask what most people reading this thread are wondering: how are you “obviously gifted?” I’m not doubting it, I’m actually curious as to what traits you have that make you more “gifted” than the rest of the world. Your extracurriculars are good, and honestly, I think they would be able to cover a few points of GPA, but that SAT… what happened…? If I’m not mistaken, most schools use extracurriculars to differentiate between top tier candidates; they don’t hold much weight (unless you were in the Olympics or something) if you don’t have the academics to back it. I would honestly advise settling a little lower, unless you double your SAT score or something.
Nothing wrong with going to a community college or something and transferring out, anyway. If you’re really going to work hard like you said, transferring should be easy.

If you really think you’re gifted, take a gap year and try to develop something. College is for people who need tools to get to the places they want, if you want to do computer software engineering or something like that, and you already know code, then there should be no problem with making a start-up. Mark Zuckerberg coded a music program in high school that was priced at 1 million by Google. While you’re at it, maybe you should take some extra high school classes to bring up that gpa, or attend some classes at a community college, get an internship at software company, etc. That is, if you really think you’re gifted. If it turns out that you’re not, you end up with a higher gpa, some college courses under your belt, something sweet to put on your resume, and new perspective of yourself and what you’re capable of doing. So my advice: take a gap year.

980 SAT and a 2.6 GPA doesn’t scream gifted to me. It screams unmotivated, lazy, and someone who doesn’t take college seriously. I know it sounds harsh but this is the kind of feedback you need to motivate you to get back into gear and try. Your story has a lot of excuses and no adcom at a high tier university is going to listen to a sob story and admit you. If you had some medical problems, financial problems or something I would understand. It just irritates me that you consider yourself gifted almost as an excuse to offset your poor grades. You want to talk about gifted? The 12 year old who got into U of Chicago Med School. That is gifted.

You said it yourself that you have been following the wrong crowd, chasing girls and such. Now the good part is you acknowledged the problem. Also a 2.6 isn’t exactly abysmal. It can be fixed but there are a lot of factors here. How many credit hours do you have so far? Does your school offer academic renewal? etc. With AR and a steady upward trend of A’s, there is no reason why you can’t make a strong case to a university.
You probably won’t get into any ivies but there are a lot of good U’s in reach of a 3.0-3.2GPA. Don’t give up.
