I really want to major in Business and I’m currently attending UCSC. My school doesn’t have the best reputation for things outside of STEM. Should I go to a cc for a year and a half or so and try to transfer to Cal or UCLA? Or should I stay here? I don’t necessarily like the school but I love the people I’m associated with.
BUMP
Why not just switch into the business econ program and attempt to get internships with the overwhelming majority of companies who do not reject applicants who did not go to a couple of schools? You can’t guarantee you’ll be accepted to UCLA or Berkeley after community college, whereas you’re already a student at a university with a positive reputation.
I would not switch. I would work hard to stand out where you are and get involved with whatever associations and clubs connect with SV firms for internships. Switching can add length to your program of study and results are not guaranteed.
Just to add some context another reason why I’m considering attending CC is because of how poorly I’ve been doing in school due to a complete lack of discipline. I barely have a 2.0 after my first year because of failing 2 classes. If I do stay I do plan to get my act together though.
This is what many students say and think. Most are not able to do it. Head to CC.
