<p>How many of you go away for college and work? Right now I’m a bio major and I’m currently taking 18.5 credits which include, orgo and physics but I was really hoping to get a job as an RA but it didn’t happen :(. I staying in an apartment which means that I have to buy my own food and such so a little extra money won’t hurt. I also need some good ECs for med school and since I transferred to this school I have to start all over again. Do you guys think I should get a job or focus on my academics and ECs? What would you guys do if you’re in the same position as me?</p>
<p>I would focus on your academics. Even if you did get a job, with 18.5 units, including orgo and physics, I doubt it would be a very demanding/high paying position.</p>
<p>Ask yourself, in the long term, is a few grand in pocket worth the possibility that you’ll just run out of time/energy and shed a few grade points? Burnout strikes with little warning.</p>
