Going into debt by living off campus?

Last year I went into $3500 in debt by choosing to live in dorms. I had an amazing time and don’t regret anything.

This year I’m also set to live off campus. but due to mistake of not verifying my FAFSA information earlier, I dont have any money at the moment and forced to take a student loan just to cover basic student items.

It really is my fault for not taking it into consideration earlier, but this experience has forced me to re-evaluate my decisions regarding finances.

I’ve never wanted to live with parents, because although I would be saving money instead of going into debt, I also prioritize my social life and having “the college experience” and acknowledge that I wouldn’t enjoy a sedentary life at home.

While I signed a lease which means my living arrangements have been set in stone for the next school year, I feel worried because I feel that I have significant expenditures that I don’t need to be making.

That’s life. Get used to spending tons of cash; you’d need to.
And can you elaborate on what advice you want? It sounds like you are having buyer’s remorse but you seem to concerned about going into debt from your title. However, you later explain that you are going to get fin aid anyways ; so what’s the problem?
For what it is worth, most people I know that moved off campus saved money doing so in the long room.

A considerable amount of my student loans in the future will be going to living off campus. I’m 26, so I’m a non-traditional student. By the time I transfer to university, I’ll be 29, so I don’t think dorming is really an option for me.

I rather have an entire house off campus for myself.
