Going to a CC to transfer to a UC

so for highschool my gpa was a 3.5 and my SAT was around 1300
I didnt do the best enough to get into a UC or high CSUs
I did manage to get accepted into CSUDH and CSUEB but East Bay is too far and I want the best education to become a teacher. And i got accepted to Notre Dame de Namur but its too expensive.
So I decided I should go to a CC to save money and then transfer. Right now I’m planning on Pasadena or Irvine Valley because i want to stay close to come which is in LA.
I just want to know is this the best choice or should I go to CSUDH for 4 years or just transfer from it? Are their better CCs I should consider?
if it helps I want to get my BA in English and Art History and get a single subject teaching credential.

I don’t think picking a certain CC is THAT big of a deal, you could just go to the one closest to your home now. It’ll make your life easier. You can just TAG the UC you want to go to (besides ucb, ucla, and ucsd), which means if you maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0-3.2 you are guaranteed admission at that school. You’ll save yourself a lot of money too.

Use assist.org to figure out what your major’s pre-reqs are for your favorite UCs. If your CC offers all or most of them, you might as well go there. Some pre-reqs are hard to find (like CS classes for Berkeley) so students will attend multiple schools to complete all of them, but I doubt you’ll have that issue with english.

CSU -> UC is harder than CC -> UC, since priority goes to CCC students during admissions. So it depends on how you feel about spending a couple years at a CC (less/no social life, professors are hit or miss, academics usually aren’t as good, but classes are way cheaper and it’s easier to transfer). So, that’s up for you to decide.
