My husband had the pheasant
Both had GrandmĆØreās pain perdu for dessert. And I thought that I made a decent French toast!
Has anyone had lunch at Madame Brassiere at the Eiffel Tower?
Hi! the English tour in Reims with the Mummās Champagne house. But there are many champagne houses right in the town of Reims that you could uber or walk. So check out the many options and see what day and time the tour in English is offered.
We are currently in France for 17 days and had dinner at Madame Brasserie last night! Get a window table or your experience will be like dining in any restaurant. The view was incredible! The menu was not the same as online, but was everything was artfully presented and simply divine. We were formally dressed, which was tough in a carry on, but many were not. One man was wearing shorts, a shirt with a fish motif, and a hat!
Wow, thank you! Iām canāt believe you were just there. I was telling husband yesterday that I think only tables for 2 or 4 are at the windows. We will be 6, and like you said, in the middle of the room with nothing special. We would go for lunch, not dinner. Iām thinking we may have to skip it and find a restaurant with a view of the Eiffel instead.
You can do 6 by the window, as there were 2 small tables adjacent to us.
Another possibility is the top floor of the Hyatt Etoile. They serve a brunch there on the weekend. Or they have a bar menu in the evening. Plenty of great options for a view in Paris!
Maybe do a dinner (or lunch) river cruise? Those looked nice, though we did not do it since logistics were a pain from our apartment location (near Notre Dame⦠river tours started near Eiffel).
Thanks! I also read they do an ala carte menu on certain days. I read they had a fixed price lunch typically.
We will do a dinner cruise for sure. I did one last time and loved it. I
Thereās a YouTube channel called LesFrenchies
Lots of great content
This is their recommendation for best dinner cruise in Paris https://calife.com/en/
I think you did one the last time though.
We decided not to in the end. The starting time was late for us and we decided to spend our money on tours instead. And my husband is a picky eater so it would have been lost on him.
Thatās the frustrating part for me, my husband at least acknowledges now that he is a picky eater. But it stops us from some places although he tries
My picky eater kids usually glommed onto one thing that they liked. My oldest ate steak frites everywhere and my youngest ordered salmon. Iām not picky, but Iām not nearly as adventurous as my husband, so I let him order the really weird stuff and try it.
Bike tours are, imo, the best way to see a city. We do ant least one in every city. Unfortunately we booked a day bike tour in Paris this summer. Iāll have to do a night one next time.
We ate a lot of steak frites in Paris. Delicious by the way.
When itās the family, I will overlook one picky eater. When itās just the husband, I didnāt want to pay for a meal I know he wouldnāt like. At the time, the menu didnāt have a lot of options that he would pick.
For over ā¬100 I didnāt want to pay for a chicken breast. And if the cruise was earlier also. I donāt think it started until 9 pm, I was nervous about jet lag.
When we were in Paris the rivers were so high they werenāt able to run the dinner boats. Lots of flooding. Hopefully thatās receded by now.
Gift link to a piece in the NYT this morning. I think Iāll pass on the Catacombs!
The Catacombs are actually pretty cool to tour!
T-minus 7 days and counting until we touch down in Paris. This thread has been a great help.
We had a great dinner at Verjus when we were there. Highly recommended! Have a wonderful time.
We always do a river cruise but not the dinner cruise. You can time your cruise for sunset and you will get to see the Eiffel Tower light up!!! I think at sunset and on the hour but DOUBLE CHECK when it is scheduled to light up and time your evening river cruise accordingly. And itās a fraction of the price of dinner cruise.
Well worth grabbing a bottle of wine and blanket to go sit on the lawn for the Eiffel tower light show and enjoy the evening. If you donāt bring your own wine there are plenty of opportunities to buy one! Itās almost like tailgatingāpeople get there early and party. People run around hawking Eiffel towers that light upāwish Iād bought one!
No idea if this affects you but when we went the entrance and ticketing to Saint Chapelle was on a totally different street than where it was located due to closed offed areas to Notre Dame.
