Going to submit ACT + Writing to all schools--need SAT II?

My daughter got a 35 on her ACT and she plans to major in something in the Humanities at a selective liberal arts school (looking at Smith, Vassar, Barnard, Wellesley, Scripps, Macalester, Tufts, and possibly Brown). All of their websites indicate that applicants should take the SAT + 2 subjects tests OR the ACT with Writing. She opted for the ACT. Is there any reason to take the SAT subject tests?

Also, she will have 5 years of French going into college and wants to continue taking French (possibly minoring in it). Should she take the SATII French exam for placement? How do colleges usually place language students?

Thanks!

Scripps College gives a placement exam during orientation or it’s possible to place using an SAT II subject test.

(Sorry, I don’t have any other answers)

I would just call the schools if you have doubt after reading websites… Two that aren’t on your list are Columbia and U Penn. I use them because I know the answer. Columbia only requires SAT II’s if you submit an SAT score. U Penn want’s SAT IIs regardless.

look on the individual college websites regarding foreign
language placement exams. many top colleges require them, regardless of SAT subject test results.
