Gold Delta Skymiles Credit Card

Does anyone have any experience with the Gold Delta Skymiles Credit Card? I was thinking of getting the card for my D who will be flying Delta to college so she can get the first bag free. I called and they won’t let me co-sign so I wondered if anyone has experience getting this card for their kid?

We have one and just got a card for our D as an authorized user. She can still use the miles even though the card is in my husbands name.

Thanks, veruca, do you know if your D gets the free bag if she flies alone?

My D has not flown alone yet - but I think she does get the free bag. I would just call and ask before you get the card if that is a big reason you are getting it. She is flying alone in August so we will find out. They take that discount off at check in. Her card looks just like the others. The statements are broken down into what each authorized user has charged.

Thanks!

Sorry but she will not get the free bag if she is not the primary card holder or not flying with the primary card holder. I just went through this. We have a delta Gold Amex card but my husband is primary on the account. I have a card with my name on it but I have to pay baggage fees when I travel alone. Even though I don’t get the free bag perk it’s been a great card for us and we have earned many free flights.

Darn! Thanks 3 scoutsmom

I have prepaid for my son’s luggage at time of ticket purchase. (the only rule is that they have to make sure they are within the weight limits or their will be an extra charge at check in)

(we used our Delta Amex to pay tuition…lots of miles!)

Thanks all, I’m going to rethink this

I gave my kids a mini travel weighing scale to check the weight of their bags. Since the kids have reached freq flyer medallion status they get bag fees waived completely & complimentary upgrades.
