What are these?

free money…

I got this too.

me too, but then a $17,000 bill on top of that…all loans…bummer. We can’t even put food on the table, let alone pay that kind of money for college. I hate the EFC calculations. They do not tell the whole story.

This college is definitely out for me.

I’m sorry to hear that Tornados. Have you called the financial aid office for more help?

I got a combo of subsidized loans and unsubsudized loans for $11,002 plus the $18,000 bobcat scholarship. Theres an estimate of about $29,000 for a year, but I think this can be different with extra budgeting on housing and finding good deals on books. I’m going to call the financial aid office for more info.

love4learning…I only got a $5500. Bobcat. That is the problem. That leaves me with $18000. in loans. Stupid, really stupid, that won’t help me at all.

Tornado…my friend told me to call and ask about cal grants and work study. Have you called the financial aid office?

I’m going to visit the campus tomorrow and I’m thinking of stopping by the finaid office to get more info.

Yes, part of my package was work study. I don’t qualify for Cal Grants. My family is $600 over the financial limit for them.

My family is middle-class American and we are the ones that no one is willing to help. Sad thing is, my parents said that 10-15 years ago we would have been fine. However, with the economy now and the cost of living, we slide into a bigger hole every month. There is no way they can pay one cent toward my education, not even on a loan payment.

I always dreamed of going to college and now I think that is going to slip through my fingers. I was accepted at another college, even filled out housing just in case, but if their financial aid package comes in as badly as this one, then I am not going to be able to go at all.

Makes me so incredibly sad.

i got total of 7568 dollars… for bobcats scholarship…
how can i get more?

Tornados, that is horrible. I’m really sorry. I come from a middle class family too, and though we do get some financial aid, two or three thousand short of 20 grand is a bunch to take a loan on.

Have you thought of going to a CC and doing amazing, qualifying for some kind of merit based scholarship maybe?

whatthefriction…if I don’t get a good financial aid package then that is what I will have to do. But you know how that feels. I so badly want to live in a dorm, make new friends, start all over. There must be something else special in my future that I just can’t see right now.

Tornados, I’m going to live in the dorms for the first year, but yeah, the money aspect does not look fun. My parents are going to help pay where they can, but still.

Don’t give up though, there is something special in your future. I see that you have perserverance and determination, you’re gonna do big things in life. Overcoming great adversity is gonna help you out in the long run, trust me.

Community college isn’t a bad thing! It’s a good choice, and way more cheaper.

Good luck!!
