Golden Opportunity?

My school is hosting a Preliminary SAT test session and I was wondering if I should take advantage of this. The fee is $20 and we get to know our scores the same day. As a freshman, it’s not really necessary that I take it. Should I spend the 20 bucks and a Saturday on the test or wait until later?

Waste of time, you probably don’t have enough math skills to be influenced by such a mediocre opportunity.

^true (about math).
I took Honors Algebra 1 8th grade and I’m currently take Honors Geometry but there’s Algebra 2 on the test. :/

if you want to spend 4 hours on a Saturday preparing for a test you won’t take till next year, then do so. It will give you an idea of what you need to do–but you also need to remember that 2 years is a LOT of time to grow, especially when considering (as said by Incognito) your assumed lack of education in Algebra II or Geometry. It will be good for getting used to, but should not really be used as a gauge or anything.

I wouldn’t do it, personally. Freshman year was better suited for making friends and finding passions, in my opinion.

yeah, it will screw you over and further discourage your test-taking spirit!

Prevail, my math-deprived friend.

^haha. okay, okay. i am not going to take it. we’re 4/5 of the way done with the Geometry book and i have a 96 in the class (math is my strongest subject). anyways, i dont want to become discouraged (which i probably will) so yeah… thanks guys.

Yeah, we were all clueless pawns of fresh-blood 9th graders once. Trust me.

take it sophomore year. it’ll help you more. Actually, take the PSAT sophomore year as well for practice. That’s more helpful, actually… that way you don t have to suffer through 4 hours of SAT practice but still have a good idea of what they are asking…

If you take it now and do well, you won’t be sweating as much junior year because you know you’re capable of good scores. (And if you take it now and do poorly, you know you’ll still have time to improve.)

PSAT isn’t accurate because there are too few questions

$20 just for a practice SAT is totally scamming you out of your money. that’s how much test-prep books cost.

If by “Golden Opportunity” you mean an opportunity to needlessly waste your time and money, then yes, go for it!
