<p>Hello my name is GoldenMonkeySAT! I want to know what my chances are in getting into some of the best Ivy League schools, such as UCLA, USC, Stanford and Yale. But the problem is I feel like I can’t go anywhere after I saw today’s ACT score. I feel like I am going to end not having an awesome job and my future just got crushed. I literally want to put an end to my life right now. I just want to commit suicide, but then I realize that would give my family a ton of emotional problems and I want them to live happily. My parents do a lot for me and my ACT score make me like I am completely useless. My parents expected me to get a 30+ but I am a failure. </p>

<p>Ives aren’t the only thing in life. Look at other good schools. There are plenty. Please don’t hurt yourself but you won’t get into an Ivy with those scores. Sorry</p>
<p>Geez, are you seriously that insane about getting into a college? It doesn’t matter 2 pennies what your ACT was to whoever’s going to employ you six years later, and, eight years later, people won’t even <em>ask</em> what college you went to.</p>
<p>The schools on your list are unrealistic, you said it yourself, but calm down, it is college admissions not the end of the world. There are plenty of test optional schools, you should look into them. Also start focussing on what is the best fit, not just the name value of a school. Speaking from personal experience I spent almost two years convinced I wanted to go to Harvard/an ivy, then I toured an ivy and some other large prestigious schools, I hated them, I left one of the tours early because I did not want to spend more time at a school I knew I would never want to go to. Eventually I learned I like LACs much better, but anyway… Go tour some schools, find a school with a good program for you intended major, there are so many great schools out there that are not ivies/top 20 schools. Also look at the website for Colleges That Change Lives, they feature great schools, that have proven results of giving a good education to their students/lead to them getting good jobs/into post graduate education.</p>
<p>Please don’t beat yourself up over a number. It doesn’t determine your life. There are so many great colleges out there if you start looking for them. As a matter of fact, most people don’t regret going to the college they picked. So, once you are past the chaos of applications, you will probably forget what you got on the ACT within a year.</p>
<p>Hey, I know how it feels. My whole life has been to get to an Ivy League. I understand how you feel. Judging by how passionate you are, you will get a good job and be successful. Just don’t worry about it! What happens in life happens.</p>
