As the mother of a young adult adoptee who went to preschool, pre-k, elementary and middle school in Manhattan’s Chinatown (much schlepping on the subway from Brooklyn!), I am always interested in the festivities there. If any of my CC friends would like to meet up this weekend for informal festivities (lion dances, etc.) this weekend, please message me!
At the end of the holiday on 2/25, the Chinese Adoption Alliance will march in the parade, starting at the amazing elementary school my daughter attended. CAA is a group of adult adoptees who have taken over (with gratitude of the parents) Families with Children from China of Greater NY, the former adoptive parents’ support group.
Gosh, I’d love to if we lived closer! That sounds awesome! My two girls are Chinese adoptees from Jiangxi and Guangxi provinces.
I’ll send the parade info to my daughter in MA. She might like to take a train to attend.
We attended several FCC New Year events when the girls were younger and they really enjoyed them.

I saw an incredible fruit board in the shape of a dragon, but now of course cannot find it.
But note to self-- don’t try to go to dim sum on Chinese New Year.
We had an absolutely terrific Chinese New Year feast this afternoon - restaurant was packed, never so happy to have reservations. Kids were very excited to get their red envelopes (as always).
