Gong Xi Fa Cai! How will you celebrate Spring Festival/Lunar New Year tomorrow?

We went to a celebration of Chinese New Year’s at a charity where my brother served as Chair of the Board for a number of years until he died unexpectedly and they had a very attractive metal plaque honoring him. He got my younger brother (an MD) to join the Board as well (younger brother continues to be a Board member). It was a nice event, with firecrackers and two lions dancing. My H and I and all my sibs (except one traveling in SAmerica) and most of our spouses attended. There were folks from the community as well as some of the residents of the CCRC (the organization has the word Chinese in it, but they accept all races) there in attendance (as well as my late brother’s secretary). There were small lunches and other food options. We ate a light meal and will go to a wedding shower later tonight.

We had to walk up several flights of stairs to get to the event because the property is on a significant slope and parking was very limited. H said his legs were burning walking up the hill—I had my supplemental O2 and didn’t particularly notice. On the way back to the car, we caught the elevator from the 2nd floor down to the ground floor because I was nervous about the wet, slippery stairs. It made for less walking in the rain as well.

My guests for the Lunar New Year feast that I hosted for my grupo inglés-español just left. A lot of fun and I have a ton of leftover congee, eggpiant with vegetables, and baked tofu. To say nothing of sangria! A wonderful way to celebrate so many different cultures with attendees from many Latinoamericano countries, plus Germany and Cambodia. Gong xi! Gong xi!
