good arch schools in midwest?

Hey—

Just want to know what are some good architecture schools in the midwest. (I live in MN, so preferrably closer to there).
Also, are these schools good? Because they’re on my list at the moment, and I’m not sure how good the architecture programs are…

Notre Dame
ISU
University of Cincinnati
University of MN - Twin Cities
University of Nebraska - Lincoln

Washington University in St. Louis has one of the top-ranked architecture programs in the nation. Unfortunately, they don’t provide the B.arch degree, only a b.s. and an M.arch, which means you would have to spend at least 6 years in school before you got you could be professionally licensed.

University of Illinois Urbana Champaign has a strong 4+2 program with an exceptional study abroad experience. You could spend your entire junior year at the Versailles.

elf12, my son attends University of Cincinnati’s well-regarded architecture program (DAAP). He’s had a wonderful college experience, having started from the very 1st quarter with a strong concentration of architecture courses, including studio, which does take up a lot of one’s time.

Although UC offers a B.S. in Architecture Studies (not a BArch), which means having to also earn a MArch degree (another 2-3 years) to become a licensed architect, it’s a public university that offers quite a few 4-year merit scholarships of various amounts to its best students. When my son enrolled, it was our understanding that most (if not all) architecture students qualified for a Cincinnatus Scholarship. Also, during co-op quarters, he pays just a small fee to UC while getting paid to work for an architecture firm. He says he’s learning so much not only from his courses, but also from applying what he’s learned during co-op.

My son also chose UC so he could benefit from having a full college experience, including extracurricular activities. If you follow college football, you’ll note that the Bearcats are now 10-0, ranked #5 if not #4 after this weekend’s games. Best of luck during your college search!

The new rankings have Iowa State ranked 18. This year DI included a section on hidden gems in architecture education. It has 5 hidden gems, one of them in the midwest was U of Minnesota.

Add the University of Michigan.

Ball State. A top program.

Think about Wash U. in St. Louis. I hear that there is a big arch out there.

check put the illinois institute of technology, supposedly good 5 year ba and the school gives out good fin aid says a friend whose son attends. plus his son really likes being in chicago, where the school has a nice mies designed campus on the near south side near the mccormick expo center. im also told that IIT grads have a very good reputation regionally if you want to stay in the area

How about Kansas State? Its top ranked too.
