<p>A new year has begun! (By the way, these time stamps are so off - It’s like 12:15). I was lurking online and talking to my friends because no one is in town for the holidays. And suddenly, literally 5 or so minutes before midnight, I get a post on the “Questions for all RD-ers page.” Who posts on CC at midnight on New Years? Well, apparently, I have to now.</p>
<p>So, I felt pretty crummy. It was a great way to ring in the new year. I hate those e-mail updates - I was hoping for something from my friend skiing in West Virginia. Go read to post to figure out what I’m talking about. Thus, I’ve decided that perhaps I spend too much time on here (thought it IS break and I AM bored and I don’t exactly do this when I’m studying for a calculus test). And so, as a new year begins, I shall say good-bye to all of you. If you are interested in talking to me, please IM me at peppermintqueen. I may come back every month or so or ask a desperate question about which IHUM class to take or something. So if you respond to this, I won’t read it. Thanks again!</p>

<p>I decided to come back and take a look at what people were posting. Apparently, I’m still getting a lot of negative responses on the “your friends” forum. I just want to defend myself and say that I didn’t mean ANYTHING by that. My friends and I have reached a consensus that we don’t want to go to school together, and though my friend is as qualified as I am for Stanford, I’d rather her choose an Ivy or Top LAC (as would she - Stanford his her SIXTH choice). I’m really sorry that I came across as a snooty bad person there, and I’m not that way at all. I apologize to all of the people who thought I was wishing my friend ill on getting into college. I even helped her edit her essays … I really want her to do well. I’m guessing that my friends and I have a very uncommon view on our future educations, but honestly: My other friend said she’d choose a lower ranked school over Duke if other people were going there. That’s just the way people at my school are, and I’m really sorry if you think I’m a bad person. Goodbye for good this time! It’s been nice talking to many of you.</p>
