Hi all, this is my first post on CC and I realize it’s extremely late to be asking for advice about colleges when the applications are due in two days, but I was wondering about the general opinion on cal states here.
I’m currently a high school senior residing in socal. I dislike the weather here and would like to get far away- preferably to a more green and rainy place. I’ve been looking at schools with WUE tuition in WA, OR, AK, and CO, but the cali apps are my priority right now. My weighted UC GPA is 3.4 and my SAT (new SAT, post March 2016) is 1420, 1440 if superscored. Because my GPA is fairly low (by UC standards), I realize it’s a long shot of getting accepted into any UC’s besides Riverside and Merced. Santa Cruz would be my top choice for a UC, but I’m not sure if I can get in.
I’ve been looking into cal-states because of the affordability, but I’m having trouble narrowing the list down because I don’t have a ton of info on each. I’m thinking I’m gonna major in either computer sciences or life sciences, and academic quality as well as weather and location are important factors (along the lines of places that are green, rainy, have trees, and don’t get too hot, but I’m willing to compromise). So far, Humboldt State seems the most appealing…but idk. What do you guys recommend?
Thanks in advance for reading this!
