good cell plan with unlimited data?

Anyone have experience with a good cell plan which includes unlimited data? S is very interested in this and interested in Sprint. Have heard negative things about Sprint, especially poor reception. We don’t care whether it’s a contract or pre-paid plan. Thanks! He lives in Arlington, VA, D will be living in LA & we will live in Honolulu. We all plan to use the same carrier, we think.

We have a family Sprint plan. We live in SoCal, D1 goes to school in the Boston area, reception is fine for all of us. When travelling, never had an issue with dropped calls or getting enough signal strength.

Thanks–how much do you pay? My BIL has Sprint & lives in SF. He has been content with it as well.

We had verizon for years but switched to sprint because of the value in their data plans. I was worried too about the service but asked around and people seem to like them so we switched. We are so happy with the service, support and reception that we get. I think you have to check the area maps where you will be to make sure that their coverage is strong there. But if it is, I would definitely recommend them.

Thanks–any thoughts about pre-paid vs. contract? The latter seems cheaper @ $50/month unlimited, including data. It unfortunately seems that every time you turn around, you are charged more & more!

I don’t know how it works in that particular area but Virgin Wireless has unlimited data for $35/month. It doesn’t allow for unlimited calls, but my Ds doesn’t talk when a text can be sent instead.

Thanks–want unlimited talking as well, so there is no reason the kids won’t talk to us (other than their preferences, of course).

Curious if anyone has tried Straight Talk bring your own phone program. If you buy $15 Straight Talk sim from them online and pop it in your own AT&T iphone or Android phone you can get AT&T “unlimited” voice, text and data for $45/month through Straight Talk.

HImom, we pay just under $190 a month for four lines. I get IIRC a 30% professional discount through work off the first two lines. Sprint charges an extra $10/month smartphone premium, so that total includes $20 for two smartphones. The spouse and I both have smartphones through work, so we’ve stuck with dumbphones on Sprint.
