My husband loves dark beer and I like wheat beer but we both enjoy Honey Brown and Amber Bock.

They aren’t PBR cheap but they are still reasonable.

Budweiser American Ale is a decent cheap beer. As for Yuengling, I prefer Black and Tan.

If i’m going to pick up a case of cheap beer it’s going to be lionshead. I love love love the puzzles under the caps!

Our cheap beer is whatever microbrew is on sale this week at the supermarket. Or the beer our neighbor brews himself. Or the samples at Captain Lawrence Brewery. I like a hoppy IPA beer, or the original Sam Adams Boston Lager, or Brooklyn Lager. Not a fan of dark beers or wheat beers (which my husband loves.) Sierra Nevada makes good beer.

I am also not a beer drinker, but hubby likes Leinenkugel, a regional beer in the Midwest.

mathmom, Before ruling out ALL dark beers give Negro Modelo a try. It is extremely “drinkable”, and unlike the heavy characteristics of so many dark beers.

I’m not a big beer drinker, but a couple of times I’ve tried ‘Milwaukee’s Best’ beer–it has to be the worst tasting beer in the world. It’s cheap, but it is far from the best; it is a wonder that anyone would buy it for any reason other than it being the cheapest beer sold in stores. Yuck!

A drink that I discovered this summer is ‘malta.’ It is a sweet non-alcohol malt beverage that is kinda like a beer soda. I like it lunchtime in a tall glass filled with ice with a cuban or ham sandwich.

I love dark beer. Darker the better.

Negro Modelo is so good. Also a big fan of Pacifico another Mexican Beer. My favorite beer at the moment though is Spaten Optimator, which isn’t all that cheap.

For something that is more mellow, I love a good Heifeweizen. Shock Top is OK, but I prefer to spend the extra few dollars for Franziskaner or for an American brand, Widmer Bros.

I get the attraction of dark beer and like some of them in small quantities, but why force yourself to drink them when there’s something you’ll like better on tap?

The Portland, ME area is microbrew heaven. There seems to be something about port cities that favors yeast products: great beer, great bread.

I don’t know any good “cheap” beers. My H bought something cheap from TJ’s that was absolutely horrible, though. Truly undrinkable.
