Good Coffeemakers?

Anyone have a coffeemaker that works well? I’m especially interested in one with a thermal carafe. Our Cuisinart is leaking and the reviews on most are terrible.

Consumer Reports gives the very affordabe Mr. Coffee excellent reviews. We got rid of our coffeemaker and opted instead for the Keurig K-cup machine. We purchase our coffee from Costco.com, ordering 200 (minimum amount) of the Pacific Bold Arrabica for $85.00.

I absolutely love our Keurig at work using Green Mountain Dark Magic cups. Yum.

I have tried them all…thermal carafe, regular drip, Melita, Keurig.

I am using a French press, and it makes far and away the BEST coffee I have ever made. Mine is a four cup French press…so I suppose I could actually make four piping hot cups and pour them into my nice thermal carafe!

But really…I don’t bother. I just make another fresh French press cup.

Last Christmas, I splurged and got myself a Technivorm Moccamaster with the thermal carafe. It makes a full bodied, hot cup of coffee. I love it!

I also agree with thumper about the French press. Delicious coffee – and I still use mine on occasion. But, I am lazy and the French press can be messy (for me, at least), so that makes me like my Technivorm even more…

I love: Zojirushi Fresh Brew Thermal. I am on my second after wearing the first one out after 10 years. Simple and the coffee is great. The morning coffee is still hot when I get home from work.

French press is great. Also great, if you like strong coffee, is the MokaPot.

Wasn’t there a thread about this a month or so ago?

I use a French press also. I love it!

I like my Bunn coffeemaker. It has two chambers and a heater, so one is always hot. You refill before closing the top and hot coffee comes out IMMEDIATELY from the water in the hot chamber flowing through. One minute and I’ve got a pot!

I have a $150 Cuisinart with metal carafe at home and a cheap Mr. Coffee at the office that I bought at Wal-Mart for $25. I can’t tell the difference.

bonavita, thermal carafe. i got it last christmas. very good.

I have a cheap MrCoffee K cup machine and buy our K cups at the Costco warehouse…Kirkland breakfast blend for me and Bold something or other for DH.
I think the box of 100 is about $38.

Thanks for the responses. We need an easy morning solution so will likely just stick with an auto drip. Just wish they were made better.

Second the Zojirushi. I bought one after reading reviews and knowing how much I love my rice cooker. Now I have two. One is on the balcony outside my room; I set it up with the timer in the evening and it serves as my alarm clock. I have a second one in the kitchen for when we have house guests.

Have a 30 year old Farberware electric pot 12 cups and bought a very old, 4 cup one at a Goodwill for about $8.00. Love how fast it is and is the only coffee maker that seems to keep the coffee super hot.

Heres the recent thread.

My H used an old percolator this past weekend while we were camping instead of the french press we usually use & it tasted great!
I think its the coffee, just as much as the method & I wouldnt want to be locked into using prepackaged beans, we like to grind ours ourselves.

I recently began roasting my own coffee. My green coffee supplier has an excellent web site with discussion on every type of coffee maker. The company is called " Sweet Maria’s ". They sell very high end coffee makers. We’ve been pretty happy with our Costco version cuisinart, about $60.

For a fast, easy morning brew for two consider getting an inexpensive Mr Coffee that brews 4 cups (some have auto features). My H is the coffee drinker and does like the French press as well. Now he just uses an instant brand and saves his energy for afternoon Indian tea.

I love, love, love our Technivorm (I vote with VeganMom). The stainless steel carafe has to be hand washed and I had to buy (sorry) a narrow toilet brush (designated, of course) to really get down inside and clean it. But it keeps coffee hot and fresh for hours.
