<p>i got a 35 composite but an 8/12 on my essay. my parents are want me to take the SAT in june. is there any point? does the essay really matter?</p>

<p>The ACT essay and SAT writing section are not given anything like equal weight unless you’re planning on journalism or English.</p>
<p>35 composite should be more than enough for anywhere.</p>

<p>or if you meant within the english section, it’s Usage/Mechanics 18, Rhetorical Skills 18</p>
<p>I think that if anything is a deciding factor for your application, it won’t be your writing score. You practically have a 36 composite, so you should have a strong enough ACT score for just about anywhere. I guess you can take the SAT if you really want to, but in my opinion, it’s probably not worth your time. </p>
