Currently I’m planning on going into TAMU for fall 2015 (living in Texas as OOS) and waiting on decision from spring grades. I’m originally from virginia so I was planning on applying to UV and VTech and possibly UT-Austin for spring 2016 should I not get accepted. Does anyone know of some good universities I could apply to? Depending on how these semesters turn out I could have a 3.6 (worst case) or 3.72 (best case)
EDIT: I have 30 hours completed thus far and I plan to join the military and government in the future. Surrounding environment doesn’t matter for me. Money limit is 60k$ for the remaining 3 years.
You can’t afford TX Us with only $20K/year. Why in the world would you move there if you can’t afford it? Look in-state. VA has great schools.
Only in terms of Texas am I okay. Due to their rules and laws I can become in-state here. However the OOS issue/20k$ a year would definitely be a problem in other states but in texas I’m fine. Thanks for the concern though!
^ I would not be so sure of that. Most states make it incredibly difficult, if not nearly impossible for students to establish residency apart from their parents. You need to prove you are truly financially independent of them, which is unlikely for undergraduates.
I’ve made steps to becoming independent in Texas should I decide to go for other schools here. The financial aspect of this post isn’t really my concern at the moment. If there are great CS schools in virginia I’ll return there; if texas has good schools I’ll “finalize” my OOS to IS. If any of you have any recommendations within Texas or Virginia or for any colleges really with an OOS that is within my price range id be really grateful!

Not this fall no; for spring. For the fall I will be looking to take the In-State Waiver as a result of joining the Corp of Cadets for TAMU.
TAMU Galveston also has a Corps program. You should also apply there and possibly transfer to TAMU. But that might not work out.
Are you counting on a Corps scholarship to gain in-state tuition?
You should consider UTD if you can afford it.
If you can’t pay for Texas am, how the hell can you pay for UT Austin???
UVa is a good CS school in VA that is one of the top 3 publics in the country (IMO). Did you go to CC in VA? If so, after you get your associates, a 3.7 automatically guarantees you admission to UVa.
I very much doubt you can become IS for TX, particularly in a single year. VT has an excellent CS program.
