Good CR score, middling Math score- best way to improve?

DS, a junior, has a great CR(790) score middling/fair Math (610) score - besides doing a SAt math problem everyday, any other ideas for improving his math score? Particular recommendations for prep courses/book heavy on math? Thanks!

From experience there’s not much you can do except solve book after book. I did however, improve significantly after I took the SAT Math IIC exam, because afterwards I was prepared for the basic concepts.

Barron’s has a separate book for the math section, but I don’t think it’s the best book out there. I’d suggest working on the Blue Books- because they are released exams they will prepare your son for the level of difficulty of the actual test.

The actual test was the first time I received an 800 on Math. I think what’s really important is to make no mistakes- if your son is a junior, there will be few to no questions he genuinely does not know on the exam. Get him to time himself and use the time left over to check his work again and again- it’s a good habit. Have him mark the questions he wants to go back to (i.e he’s not sure of the answer/it’s a question with a lot of numbers) and check those specifically instead of using up too much time on the beginning questions.
