good debate question

Be it resolved: An individual’s obligation to society outgh to oughtweight society’s obligation to the individual.

This is a topic that i have debated but have a hard time finding values to uphold the negative and affirmative. And just preparing cases as a whole.,

If anyone could help me, it would be truly appreciate it. Thanks

So the first aff value that comes to mind is a just society with a principled value criterion that rights come with corresponding responsibilities. A long discussion here – Amitai Etzioni and Mary Ann Glendon will work nicely – about the basic principles of rights theory will go a long way.

The most intuitive negative value is a just society with a principled value criterion that individuals are not a means to an end – use some Kantian analysis here about human dignity and upholding personal sovereignty.

All in all, I think clearly an aff-biased topic. But I’m often surprised.

this is a really bad question. i know i would be cringing in the crowd if i saw anyone actually try to answer this.

That is a laughably bad LD question.
