Good ECs at NYU?

How’s the newspaper? What are the best extracurriculars at NYU?

there are a lot of clubs you can join and sports. Since your in NYC, there are plenty to do. Im sure if there is something you are particularly interested in, you will be able to find it in NYC if at NYU.

If you have trouble finding what you like, just go to the student center at Kimmel and ask around.

Washington Square News is difficult to get on. Since there are so many journalism students, mixed in with other people who are interested in writing for the paper, it’s definitely competitive. However, there are other things you can apply to, like NYU Local, that can also give you some exposure to reporting.

There are many club sports team, which are actually pretty intense, and there are also intramural sports teams that you can join. Check the bulletin boards in Coles to see if any teams are having try-outs or looking for people to join in pick-up games. If you don’t see anything you like, start a team!

As for clubs, there are a LOT of clubs, everything from College Dems to Milk and Cookies Club. There is a club fair at the beginning of the year that you can attend; while there, you can pick up information about all the clubs, and you can also sign up for each club’s listserve. It’s worth it to get involved in things you are really interested in, but there are also lots of clubs that are just fun.

And don’t forget community service!

I think the most valuable tool NYU offers is the Wasserman Center for Career Development. Through Wasserman, I got two internships my freshman year, one each semester.

And yeah there are tons of clubs and stuff.

How so? What do non-journalism majors do to get on the paper? (Or is it the same for everyone?)

Also, in addition to Washington Square News and NYU Local (which you mentioned), what other newspapers/publications are there?
