I only took the SAT once, but my mom is pushing me to retake again because private colleges like higher SAT scores than this apparently.

My dream private school is Pomona, but is it really worth taking another SAT?

It depends on which private school you are looking at. If this is your first attempt and you feel you can do better than this, you should retake to increase your chance. Your current score is slightly higher than their admission average. So you need to have very good GPA and strong EC to give you a better chance.

I think I can do better; it’s just… I have subject tests, decathlon, band, college admissions, etc, and I’m not sure if it’s hubris to reject the SAT in favor of extracurriculars
I’m just too busy tbh and I don’t want to cut down my ECs for SAT studying

Then do a final retake in Fall.

I think you could definitely work with that SAT score, but it wouldn’t hurt to test again if you think you can do better.

I got a 2240 SAT, and was admitted to Johns Hopkins and wait-listed at Duke. I think when your SAT gets into the 2200-2400 range, it all comes down to EC’s/you as an individual.

It is enough…2230 is a beyond the 75% percentile.
So I think you can just focus on you personal statement or other materials to show you other personal charisma besides the academic background.
