Good enough to get into these colleges?

I’m only a sophomore in high school (going into my junior year), but I’d like to know if with these credentials so far, am I able to get into: Penn State Schreyers or Brandeis University.

GPA:
Freshman: 4.46 W
Sophomore: 4.00 or 4.17 W

Classes:
Freshman: Hrs. Biology, Hrs. Geometry, Hrs. English, Hrs. American Studies 1 (columbian to reconstruction), Spanish 2 (no honors available). Electives: Journalism (non-weighted), Public Speaking (non-weighted)

So for freshman year, my 2 electives and spanish 2 brought the GPA down. My only B as a freshman was in english.

Sophomore: Hrs. Chemistry, Hrs. College Algebra, Hrs. English 2, A.P. U.S. History, Hrs. Spanish 3. Elective: TV Studio (high school news program).

Got B’s in everything sophomore year except maybe english 2 (i don’t know yet) and TV Studio.

SAT IIs:
U.S. History: don’t know yet, but i’m betting that i got at least a 660 - potentially a 700 as well.

That’s all I’ve got so far in my high school career. So, if i got a 2000 on my SAT and continued getting 4.33 GPAs for my next 2 years. Could i get in at those schools?

give us unweighted grades and rank and standardized test scores, if you really want chances.

Are you in-state for Penn?

i am in-state for penn state

unweighted idk - but freshman year it’d prob be like 3.8 or 3.9 - because my only B was english. sophomore it’d probably be like 3.33

my rank is probably at least top 25% of my class – which is out of over 800 students

i am also imagining i get over 2000 on my SATs – would u think i have a fair shot at brandeis and schreyers – i can guarantee i can get into university park regular, but schreyers i was wondering if i could

I think your rank and GPA could hurt you – junior year is the toughest and you would really need to pull that GPA up significantly to be more competitive.

If you go to college board, you can see what the stats are for different colleges – for instance, Brandeis has a 34% admit rate (so very selective) and indicates that GPA and class rank are “very important” in admissions (more important than standardized test scores). 57% of the kids admitted to Brandeis had unweighted GPA’s of 3.75+ and 71% were ranked in the top 10%

k thanks - im gonna try next year

Schreyers used to require a 1350 on the old SAT, although I think they recently got rid of that requirement. My friend had a 1330 this year and got in, and his grades weren’t insanely good, so I would so say you have a good shot. Brandeis will probably be equally as hard to get into, just keep your grades up and get at least a 2000 (preferably a 2100), and you should have a good shot.

that makes me feel a bit better-- i will still have to pick up my game next year though – thanks strandlib

i now know for sure i am getting a 4.00 Weighted GPA (with all Bs) as a sophomore – do i still have a chance at brandeis or penn state schreyers?
