I’m currently a first year at a liberal arts school, and so far I’ve been having an overall good experience and have been doing well academically–however, I’m just not sure if the whole liberal arts thing is for me. I’ve always been interested in film and even thought about applying to film schools when I was doing the whole college admissions thing last year, but I didn’t think that going to film school would make for a secure future.

I’m now having second thoughts, and I think I’m going to go ahead an apply to some film schools and see how things go from there. I know schools like NYU, USC, UCLA, and Northwestern have pretty good programs–problem is, they’re also very selective. I have somewhat of a portfolio established, just some some class projects and some freelance stuff (I’ve never taken any film classes or won any awards, but I’m hoping that’s not necessary to get into a good film school.)

I’ve heard that the School of Art Institute of Chicago has a pretty good film program, and they’re not as selective as other film schools. Can anyone shed light on their program, and other film schools/programs out there?
