Good Grades, But Many Schools

I’ve got a sort of colorful academic history. I came out of the Marines, and for a couple of years was really directionless and sort of bummed around on the GI-Bill. Prior to transferring to UCSD, I’ve got a few schools that I attended briefly, and more that I took distance courses from. I maintained good grades throughout–I’ll probably graduate with a cumulative ~3.85–but I’m wondering how this color would affect a law school application. The truth is that my experience as a veteran led in some ways to this lack of direction, which I’ll mention, though to be clear I gained much more from the military than I temporarily lost.

I also took the October LSAT in 2007 and scored a 177. At the time, I was only interested in getting a tutoring job, but since then I’ve been flirting off and on with the idea of being a lawyer.

Any thoughts? I know that grades are all collected together, so at least they won’t have to dig through multiple transcripts, but will this affect me poorly?

Thank you!

You’ll be fine. It might be a mild negative, but you’re a strong enough applicant that the minor effect shouldn’t actually do anything.

I don’t think having attended many schools will have a negative effect on your law school applications. Many people have similar academic records for a variety of reasons.

177 is $. since you’re not a splitter, you’ll be absolutely fine.

Thanks much, as I was hoping. Sounds like law school applications are a lot less subjective than the MS/PhD process.
