Whatever the outcome today, that you applied to Yale shows that you are a person who sets high goals and isn’t afraid to take a risk. These qualities will serve you well the rest of your life.

For those of you who are admitted and have questions, I know there are students who frequent CC and will be happy to help, but I’m also here to answer questions from the alumni point of view. I can answer questions about how a Yale education, Yale connections, and Yale friends pay off after graduation.

Any general comments on how yale pays off, during and after graduation?

What time are decisions out???

I don’t like to give out personal info, so let me just say that I’m in a profession that many on CC aspire to.

1) A lot of people think that your undergrad doesn’t matter, only your grad school. I have gotten a lot of career mileage out of Yale, my undergrad institution. During interviews, people light up about it when they see it on my resume. I think it has given me additional intellectual credibility that has helped me get job offers. When I travel to conferences, the Yalies seem to find each other an make connections that pay off down the line (sorry to be vague on this, but want to keep my profession and my anonymity safe). There is just an instant bond with a lot of people who are HIGHLY placed ALL OVER THE WORLD. I think that is another reason why employers see Yale undergrad as plus–you can use these connections to the employer’s benefit.

2) I’ve been offered places on prominent local nonprofit boards because of Yalies I know. Even outside the career realm (although many employers do value these volunteer activities), Yalies are well-placed and keep an eye out for each other.

3) My liberal arts education has enriched my life beyond measure. From the way I read literature to the way I experience travel to the way I analyze the news, the way Yale taught me to think has increased the enjoyment of day to day life.

4) Years after graduation, my Yale friends are my best friends for life. The residential college system and the group of undergrads that the admissions committee selects make for an unreal experience.

5) Happy memories. My experience at Yale was UNBELIEVABLE. I had exactly what college is supposed to be about and so much more. Having no regrets and a great store of memories means a lot to me.

A current freshman here to answer questions as well
Congrats to everyone who got in and definitely come to Bulldog Days–you won’t regret it!

Out of curiosity, AA, what college?
