<p>So, what are some good match schools for a student with the following statistics?
2100 SAT (730 CR, 640 M, 730 W, 11 essay)
31 ACT (36 English, 27 Math, 34, 28 Science, 8 essay-the difference in essay strengths came with some heavy emotional stress from the previous night)
5 AP English Language and Composition
4 AP US History
3.87 Weighted GPA
Class rank hovering over line between first and second quartile
Extremely strong essays
From public school in MS
Low income family
Good(one great, one so-so to good) teacher recommendations
Background of serious abuse
Captain of Knowledge Bowl and History Bowl teams
Member of Advanced Choir
Member of International Thespian Honor Society
Deeply involved in theatre, having had lead roles in numerous plays and having won regional and state award in the art
First generation college student</p>

<p>What’s his major?</p>

<p>Since his rank isn’t within the top 10%, his chances could be weak at full-need schools. </p>

<p>Match schools can be hard to find when lots of need-based aid is needed, and rank is not top 10%.</p>

<p>What are his reach schools?</p>

<p>He may need to stick with reach schools that give awesome FA, and financial safeties that give HUGE merit for his stats.</p>

<p>Is he applying to Ole Miss and Miss St as financial safety schools?</p>

<p>He is applying to Ole Miss. He is also applying to some of his dream schools that give great FA, but this forum seems to prove that admission into those schools is a ticklish business. His reaches are Yale, Princeton, Harvard, and Columbia. He wants to double major in Philosophy and Economics. Eventually, he would like to attend law school.</p>

<p>I don’t think he’ll get into any ivies with his rank being so low. </p>

<p>Is he a URM?</p>

<p>He should also apply to Miss ST (has more merit money) and maybe Southern Miss.</p>

<p>I think Troy U in Alabama would give him a huge scholarship.</p>

<p>The Millennium Scholar’s Award
Pays full tuition, room and board. Requirements are 31 ACT and/or 1380 SAT 1 and 3.7 GPA (4.0 scale) or a National Merit Finalist.</p>

<p>He is a NMSF and we expect him to move on, so that is something worth looking into. Thank you very much.</p>
