<p>Define “near”. Well, those 4 universities are within 200 miles from NW PA and they all have excellent math programs.</p>

<p>Reeze, Michigan has a top 10 Math program, but Ann Arbor is not “near” NW PA. Between those two places, you have a horrible place called Ohio! hehe</p>
<p>Going to take a second to plug the Pittsburgh schools…especially if you don’t have a car I’d try to stay in Pittsburgh because of the public transit…</p>
<p>With that…even though I’m a Pitt alum. the best school would be CMU in Pittsburgh for math…</p>

<p>depends on what kind of atmosphere you want to live in. Between the earlier mentioned CU/CMU/PSU/UPitt there is a complete range of social environment, and all are well respected schools, especially the first ones</p>
