I’m a new poster to the forum and have spent so much time here with all the wonderful advice from you all. I also posted this on a different forum and was asked to create a new topic…gack, forum newbie (smh)!
A little bit about my kid: My DD22 is a published author and has a high degree of passion for writing. She’s also at a very competitive public school here in the bay area. Her stats are not super: a few As with mostly Bs and a C here and there. GPA ~3.0.
Her main challenges are not with the grasp of the material in but more exec functioning skills that bring down her grades. She’s taken AP courses that are challenging her and she maintains a B in those. Her SAT score is 1450 (720 Math, 730 EBRW) and she plans to retake to get it up to 1500. We’ll see.
She wants to study Applied Math (with Biological Sciences?) as she enjoys Math. She also wants to continue to write as her hobby but pursue a career in Science.
She’s a bright, curious kid who is also very laidback and happy. I think she’ll do well in a college that is smaller. Not sure she stands a chance at the UCs, maybe some of the the CSUs?
I’m confused as to what would be a good fit for her with her stats and ECs. We have planned financially for a full pay situation, although FA is always appreciated.
Help please!
A grateful parent
