<p>I recently took the PSAT from a year (or two) ago. I am going into my sophomore year. I went in with zero experience and practice whatsoever just to see how I would do. I got-- CR:63 M:68 W:69 for a total score of 200. I plan on taking it this year with practice and then again junior year(obviously). I live in NY, if that means anything. Is that a good score for zero experience and practice?</p>
<p>That is only a point or two below the Commended Student level (top 50,000 in the country.) So for your age and amount of preparation, it is a very admirable score. Sophomores in many schools get to take the PSAT; check with your guidance office.</p>
<p>That’s definitely a good score. I scored a 218 as a sophomore (I’m a rising junior), but I had done about 5 practice tests (not including the 2008 PSAT as a freshman; I scored a 189 on that) before the 2009 PSAT. A 200 without any preparation is a very solid score. Good luck in October!</p>
<p>And UT84321 is right, many schools (like mine) have money (from grants or whatever) that allow sophomores to take the PSAT for free.</p>
<p>That’s a great score! With preparation, you would score a lot higher.</p>
