My parents want me to apply to Georgetown but I don’t think I have a chance at making it in. I’ve been Class President my past four years and go to a pretty competitive school in MA w/o class ranking.
Right now I’m thinking about Tufts for computer science… so far I’ve applied to a lot of targets like NEU, UMass Amherst and Providence.
If you want a decent chance at Tufts you will need to apply ED. Regular decision applicants are that much more competitive and intended CS majors will have very strong stats. Good luck.
I might apply ED2 to Tufts, since by then I would have heard back from all of my EA schools. I’m not sure if I can apply EA to schools while applying ED to Tufts, but yeah the ED acceptance rate is significantly higher…
You can apply ED1 to Tufts while applying EA to other schools as long as the schools aren’t restrictive early action and you understand that if you get into Tufts you must attend Tufts unless you’re applying for aid. ED2 will likely be harder to get in than ED1 because so many ED1 kids get admitted. I don’t think ED2 acceptance rate is as high as ED1. The bottom line is only apply ED1 if you’re sure you want to attend, though It sounds like you want to wait and see if can get into your EA schools first.
Other than the reach aspect, which is essentially statistical, and a need for a strong CS department, do you have further preferences you can define? If you are still flexible, that’s fine as well.
I’d prefer to be closer to home/on the east coast just for logistical reasons but I’m pretty flexible. I also like smaller class sizes, which Tufts has on a lot of my schools. The coops at NEU are really cool, though.
As for ED1, I’ll finish my app before the deadline but I’ll need to talk it over with my parents. I bet you’re right it makes a difference even between ED2, for better or worse :l
Hamilton offers a strong, tight computer science department, with class sizes capped at 26 or fewer, and might be a low reach/high match for you (24% acceptance rate, ACT middle range 31-33):

I think I might prefer going to a bigger college actually, but would definitely consider it otherwise 
NEU seems as if it could be a good option for you then, particularly since you are drawn to their coop programs. For another possibility, you might want to look into URochester (probably a match).
