Good standing but owe school money?

So I stopped attending classes Winter term while on Academic probation so I received the “Suspended” status for financial aid and was also billed. My school said " Your full amount of Federal financial aid disbursed to you for the winter term. However, since you stop attending before the end of the term, part of you direct Stafford loans and PELL grant had to be pulled back and giving back to the government creating a bill for you." So I owe about $3,000 right now.

I got a letter saying I am being sent to collections for this etc etc… HOWEVER, last week my financial aid status randomly changed to good standing? Am I now allowed to receive financial aid and return to school? I am confused. I currently do not make enough money to pay back that money.

The only holds on my account is on my transcript. I cant view my transcripts until I pay them. It just let me register for classes.

Has anyone else experienced this? I am 40 credits from my BS.

Thanks!

Are you off the Academic probation?

Yes, it is saying I am in good standing now and no longer “Suspended”. I, however, did nothing to change this myself. I did not petition or appeal anything.

^You may want contact your financial aid office to confirm your change of status

So you’re getting good-enough grades in the terms following Winter to be off the academic probation?

I haven’t taken any classes since Winter term (the term I stopped attending) because I was disqualified due to academic probation. It seems to have magically disappeared. The office is closed for the day but I plan to call.

Just was trying to inquire about the possibility of receiving financial aid if I still owe the school a balance of $3,000.

May be computer glitch.
