Good summer schools?

I have a question for readers of this thread. D4 is starting 11th grade, so next year will be her last opportunity for a precollege program. In fall 2011 she will be applying to BFA and BA programs in acting (not MT). For the past two summers she attended Stagedoor Manor, each time for one session. Both time she was in the drama that’s performed on the lawn on Thursday nights and again on Saturday morning (I think it’s called C show). She had a major supporting role the first year and a lead role this year and was in Players Ensemble. She loved her experience there and felt she learned and grew a lot, but SDM is very expensive and not a college prep program.

Some have advised us that she has already done as much as she could expect to, in terms of the roles she was cast for, at SDM and that she should attend a precollege prep program, such as those mentioned in this thread. Our problem is that the registration deadline for SDM is looming, with a nonrefundable $1000 deposit. But the applications for the other programs are due in spring. If we allow the SDM deadline to pass, she will lose her place (they have a long wait-list) and there is no guarantee she will be accepted elsewhere. We can’t afford to send her to two programs, even if the dates line up.

Any thoughts? I’m not a theater person, so this is new territory for me. Thanks!
