Good way to Make Money?

Last year I organized a charity 5k run/walk. This year however, I’ve been looking for some ways to make some money, and came across the idea of starting up a for-profit race. Are there a lot of races out there that aren’t for charities but are for-profit? I enjoy organizing races and thought maybe I could make a little money by organizing a race. I’d pay the people that work for me rather than having volunteers. Has this been done, and do things like this work?

If you get it 5k registered, then it would be a SWEET proposal.

Stock market.

Teach for The Princeton Review. EASY Money-especially grading essays and proctoring.

I love how people don’t even read what you write in your OP, they just respond to the title.

No idea if it’s been done, I’m sure it has; but I think people are less likely to want to pay to run in something if it is going to a “good” cause.

luxar, I was just about to make a post about how no one reads the OP when I saw yours. I’ve been noticing this in a lot of other threads lately too.

I think it’s worth a try.

I make a little from an e-business. The advantage is that I don’t even have to look at it anymore and the money keeps coming :)

As, I noted earlier, the only way you’re going to get money is if the race is USATF 5k certified with the possibility of chip timing at the 1k or mile markers. Try talking with your local big time shoe supplier for prizes and what not. Try to keep the logistics of the event low cost so that you can spend the bulk of your money AFTER you find out how many people will commit to your race.
