Thank you again, Mary! I’ll mull this over tomorrow–getting ready for a wedding of friend’s D now.

Thanks, @Mary13! These look like good selections. I was traveling and unable to join in this month, but I’ll vote!

Here is the results link for following: RCV123 - Results

We don’t have a final result yet, as only seven voters have checked in and those colored bars could change many times if we get seven more.

I put a reserve on both top 2 books at local library. Thanks @Mary13 !

Current lead is one of the two that didn’t interest me :slightly_frowning_face: .

I think we’ve maxxed out at 16 voters and the winner is History of the Rain by Niall Williams.

Good things: It’s an older book and not a mainstream bestseller, which means it should be easy to get from the library. The reviews I’ve read indicate that the novel is somewhat offbeat, with unusual prose, so it’s always helpful (at least for me) to read something like that with others. And finally, it’s not a book that would have even crossed my mind to read, which is one of the things I love about the suggestions that come from this group!

@Marilyn, I know the book wasn’t high on your list, but I hope you’ll give it a try!

I’ll start a new thread.

My “Books on the Beach” group had This Is Happiness by Niall Williams on the reading list this summer. I started it, but didn’t really get into it. Then, as it turned out, I was unable to attend the meeting so didn’t finish the book. My life has been beyond chaotic since June, and continues to be so. I’m willing to give this book a shot, though, time permitting.

I’m good with the choice and it’s available as both an ebook and physical book from my library.

I just read a really interesting article related to something we read for the CC bookclub and of course I can’t remember what the book was or why I thought people would be interested. Could we have the complete list again? @Mary13

As ever thanks Mary for keeping us reading for so many years!

If you click on Mary13’s profile and then activity and the threads she started, you’ll get the whole list. I think, unlike the rest of us, she doesn’t start threads anywhere except the Book Club.

Thanks and now I remember it was about Pachinko by Min Jin Lee, or rather it was an article about Min Jin Lee who has a new book out. Min Jin Lee on Her New Novel and Writing about the Korean Diaspora | Harvard Magazine I thought her background was quite interesting and infuriating.
