Goodnight, Opus

Anyone else catch how Berkley Breathed finished out his Opus comic today? Here’s the last frame:

A very touching and sentimental way for Mr. Breathed to finish off the storyline. One of my favorite Sunday comics characters of all times goes out in a way he always had been searching for; at peace, and loved…

Yes – very touching. I read an interview with him on, I think, Slate, in which he discussed the emotional issue of why and how he was closing out the strip. Basic fact: the national dialogue has gotten too nasty, and he didn’t want Opus to fall victim to that negativity. Sad.

I will miss Otis. Thank you Mr. Breathed.

Didn’t know he was packing it in.

First Calvin, and now Opus… I am sad.

Farewell, friend. :(

I apolgize for the error. My above post should read Opus, not Otis.

And I will miss him.

When I went to the humane society website (as suggested in the comic) I saw that there is a proposition (2) in CA up for vote Tuesday to make life better for farm animals. What a great way to publicize this. Factory farming always seemed like such a worthy target in the are of concern for animals (it impacts multi-millions).

here’s the interview with him I mentioned – it was in Salon, not Slate.
