Literally, a day before I found out I was offered the internship, I texted a friend about internships at the PR firm she was interning at. But, the next day I found great news out (I got an offer from Google), so don’t discount yourself!!! If Google doesn’t work out, there’s plenty of other places that are better for you!
Whew…finally got a hang tight email today after 2 1/2 months…mini-crisis averted lol
@infinitesweet Honestly, the timeline this year could be different than it was last year, especially if they’re going through the trouble of sending us hang tight emails this late in the process. It doesn’t really make sense to send us this extra email just to reject us next week (but I could be completely wrong). I do know that BOLD immersion this year is slated to have their results out by the end of March, whereas those of us who applied to that last year didn’t get our results till early May. Regardless, might as well try and keep your hopes up, never know what could happen in these next couple of weeks.
@dkshruteee I wouldn’t call it a backup so much so as another possibility. No definite offers yet from these other guys (still interviewing), but I’m at least a bit further along with them than Google right now. If Google is your only option right now, I would strongly encourage you to start looking at other places before it’s too late.
I mean they filled a significant number of positions in the first weeks after the application closed with people who applied super early. If you look on facebook there are already groups for accepted marketing interns for this summer/ videos on youtube about people’s acceptance experiences. I wonder how far the rolling admissions go? If they interview a batch from the first few application weeks and if they find enough good candidates from the first batch they end there and only consider those who applied later if they can’t find enough people in the first group.
@cmbyn1 Pretty sure most of those people who got in before were part of MLT or other partnered programs with Google. There was a first wave of applicants back in August if I remember correctly. The application was open then, just not publically. I’m sure there were people who applied super early in the regular process and managed to hitch onto the first wave of reviews as well, but for the most part, pretty much looks like everyone who got in extremely early was part of the APMM track (which was my first choice honestly, but I applied closer to the end of the application period because they made no mention that that specific team would be interviewing so early).
@BladeHunter my only saving grace thought is why would they continue to send an email this late unless I was actually being considered. Then my mind goes to the fact that I could be a back up if some people do not accept the offer (who wouldn’t), but hey better than nothing! Gonna keep my notifications on the next few weeks for sure.
@dkshruteee yeah I agree. Checking this forum has become a part of my daily routine, so it’ll def be weird when it ends lol
Hi guys! Sorry for going MIA after my interviews! I think they went pretty well, lots of hypothetical questions. The first interview was ending and we were saying goodbye to each other and MY INTERNET WENT OUT!! I had to completely restart my computer and didn’t end up speaking to him again
BUT then I explained to my second interviewer and she was like oh don’t worry it happens all the time I’ll tell him! So I felt much better after that, I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s happened to. I got positive feedback after all my answers from both of them and they were really nice, keeping my fingers crossed now.
Hi everyone! I just heard back that I was not accepted. I thought 80% of the interview went well, but some questions I know I could’ve answered better/more creatively. Fortunately, I received an offer from Amazon so I’ll still have a good summer! Here’s the timeline of events. Good luck to everyone still in the process
11/12 submitted app on the deadline
11/26 received supplemental
12/20 completed supplemental (was waiting for fall grades)
1/15 What happens next email
1/18 hang tight email
2/14 hang tight email
2/25 notified them of my competing offer
3/4 hang tight email
3/14 interview offer
3/22 interview date
3/28 rejection
Also, I originally applied for marketing/sales in SF and was interviewed for gTech in Ann Arbor/Boulder. I think the earlier you apply the more options you’ll have, it seems like marketing is one of the first departments to fill up and the Bay is the first location to fill up too.
If I got a hang tight email last week is there actually still a hope that I’ll get an interview offer. Also, has anyone here got an offer for People Operations?
I wonder if the delayed roll out of the emails is related to the primary teams we are being considered for? For example - if all the people who primarily want People Ops get emails on the Monday of roll out and those who are considered for gTech get emails on Wednesday etc. So they’re essentially sent via automation but categorized by the departments. Thoughts?
I’ve gotten consistent hang tight emails every month and I’m starting to feel as if they send it to you as long as you filled out the supplemental. I went ahead and contacted my recruiter who sent me the supplemental in November and she let me know that there are only a small amount of positions left and thousands of applicants.
So one of my friends just texted me and she apparently just got rejected. She also didn’t get that hang tight email that most of us seemed to have gotten last week/this week, so I’m just assuming that the fact that we got it means we’re still under consideration.
@infinitesweet Hey, I wouldn’t think that’d be the case. It would make more sense for them to choose one of the other people that had also interviewed for the position rather than re-interviewing someone else entirely if they needed a backup. The reason why we’re probably still here is that there is a small chance we still match for something. Either that or no one has gotten to reviewing our applications yet (but I kinda doubt this because Google recruiters were viewing my LinkedIn a couple of months back).
@astr0nomical I mean, I think it’s automated as well, but I wasn’t like you in terms of getting hang tight emails monthly. I only just got one this week after over 2 months of not getting them, so definitely not EVERYONE gets them every month, just have no idea how they decide when to send them out to specific applicants.
@BladeHunter did your friend get an interview already? Or did she get rejected outright after the supplemental?
@cmbyn1 No interview, but she was getting pretty much all of the hang tight emails up until March. That’s why I was freaking out so much before, cause apparently everyone here was getting them, and she was as well, but I was missing entire waves of them. I guess in the end, those previous ones didn’t matter as much as I thought.
We should just plan a vacation for this summer. For all the people who get in, its a celebration party. For all the people that didn’t get in, its a “lets get over it” party. Hahaha
I got an offer from HP, keep your options open!
i know it’s been just over a week since our last hang tight but is anyone else just waiting for a notification? Positive or (more likely now) negative? I feel like the guillotine is swinging over my neck
@cmbyn1 yeah definitely still waiting  i know it’s already first week of april and ik chances are low but i just need the confirmation at this point
Hi guys, just wanted to let you all know that I got rejected, I forgot to post on here but they sent me an email on Friday (my interviews were on the Monday). Good luck to all of you still waiting to hear! I’m rooting for you all!! XOXO
just took an offer for the summer because I was tired of waiting around. Hoping for the best when I apply for a full-time position in the fall. Best of luck everyone!
