Yea u r right @cskidnj
Has anyone heard from the NYC location yet?
I checked all my email accounts and got no notification (I’m international) I am even worried they didn’t receive my application
hi i’ve been checking up on this forum for a while, but i just heard back from CSSI today and i got in for the Los Angeles location!
@gocats2001 congratulations! That is amazing. You will definitely have a fruitful experience. You should check out videos and blogs of students who have already attended it! Great going. Would you please share what they said in the email? You can pm me if you want, I just want to visualize getting accepted
@gocats2001 wow congratulations!! keep us informed of any updates!!
Congratulations!!!
Those who already got their decision, did you also apply for the scholarship? From last year’s thread, it seems like those who applied for the scholarship, got their decisions earlier. Is it same this year too?
Has anyone heard back from any of the residential locations?
@gocats2001 Did they notify you by email, or did they like call you?
edit: Also did it show up on the place where you submitted the application? Like did it switch from ‘submitted’ to ‘accepted’?
@gocats2001 congrats!! just wondering how much coding experience did you have? l felt like l did a lot with programming but wasn’t sure if that was a good or bad thing for google CSSI
Hey @bluebud Can you share a bit about your application? Especially, about how much prior coding/computer science experience you had.
@taj1829 l’m silver level in USACO (where most of my time went to because the training pages take a lot of time), won a local website design competition, and took AP Compsci classes in school
Do you know what level of experience CSSI is looking for? on their webiste they seem to emphasize it’s ok to not be experienced
My friend and I applied for the commuter Chicago and the scholarship we both have not heard back
Latinas with good gpas and sat scores however my friend has done some coding program before called Girls Who Code our school offers 0 opportunities for coding classes or clubs
Patiently waiting!!! It feels like we’ve been waiting forever lol
@bluebud hey, looks like you are really good compared to a general high school senior.
I don’t know how much does prior experience weigh in terms of making a decision for CSSI. But as far as I know, it is a program that is specially geared for complete beginners. Their curriculum consists of Html, CSS, Javascript and a bit Python. So, if you are already familiar with these, you might not learn as much as you’d love to learn.
Whether you get in to CSSI or not, I think you should be fine. If you don’t get in, you can work on your own projects over the summer, learn data structures, algorithms and you’ll be a strong candidate for most freshman SWE internships next summer. You’ll also learn a lot if you can bag a tech internship somewhere this summer.
I feel like today is the day I get my decision. Checking my email constantly lol
@taj1829 thanks for the thorough reply! yeah l’m gonna keep my fingers crossed and hope l move up the waitlist
are you in college or high school?
@bluebud I’m an incoming freshman(international student). Graduated high school back in 2017 but had to take two gap-years due to some reasons.
@bluebud My cousin had a similar situation but he took a 1 year gap year, Btw what college will you be attending?
do you guys know if it’s based on submission time/last name/location/decision rejection? someone applied to the same thing as me but turned it in 2 weeks after i turned it in, and got in yesterday at noon. i haven’t even heard back… what are they released by
