I have a small group of family/friends who always alert each other when there’s a cute Google logo. Today’s celebrates the 30th anniversary of PacMan, but the extra added bonus is that it’s actually a mini working game.

My son found it and has been playing it.

Isn’t it cute? I was so surprised and just burst out laughing. I sent the link to a dear family friend who just turned 32 in April and also just got married as well. He and I used to play PacMan together when he was about 10.

I read in an online article that if you double click on the Insert Coin button on the right, then two people can play.

I must be missing something. I don’t see an “insert coin” button. If I click on the pacman icon, I just get sent to news stories about it.

I can get it to go but they dont seem to be under my control :(

There are two gray boxes below the Google name, Search Google on the left and Insert Coin on the right. Or if you just wait a minute, the game will start up.

You control the little Pac-Man’s movement with your arrow keys. It’s hard to do because you need to move over to one side and then up and down quickly. Fun though! I haven’t played Pac-Man in about 20 years.

You can also control the Pac-Man by using your mouse and clicking the next intersection ahead of it. I saw somewhere how to put it on our desktop but cannot find it again. Anyone know? I had forgotten all the rules and what you were trying to do :)

OMG–I’m hooked! My high schore is 4,860.

Did you figure it out, singermsom? I can give you a refresher if needed.

I just saw a news story about it and they had a bigger icon with the two buttons under it like bookiemom described. But when I go to google, I just get a smaller icon to the left of the search box with the same two choices there have always been “google search” and “I’m feeling lucky”.

Edit: I just switched to chrome instead of internet explorer and it works just fine.

It is cute, but I had to remind a number of my students to get back to their research and stay off of the Google page.

No kidding. Talk about addictive.

If you didn’t do anything on your initial Google page, after about 30 seconds it started playing.
I have several tabs that open at once, 2 of them are google (so that if I want Google again, I can just move to that 3rd tab). So, the other tab started playing the pacman game music while I was trying to show my class something on tab 1. Kind of annoying but , face it, funny.

Hats off to Google. And do I feel old. I just hope they do something similar for Ms. Pacman - I loved the Ms. version more.

She’s there if you choose 2 player… Very, very cute!

I missed that phase of video games, and have never played Pacman (really!) So I’m going to try to resist the urge to learn now.
