<p>I realize that one reason that I Googled my Ss’ college roommates is that college freshmen get their roommates names well before meeting them. You get the info in a complete void. </p>
<p>It’s different when kids go away to summer camp and learn on site who their roommates are. </p>
<p>Before S’s junior year in h.s., he went to a 7-week summer program in Wisconsin while H and I spent the summer in Paris. S flew to Wisconsin (quite a distance from our home) on his own, so H and I never met his roommates.</p>
<p>I never even thought of Googling them. I learned of them through S.</p>
<p>However, if he’d gotten the names in advance, I probably would have Googled them simply out of curiosity just like he probably would have checked out their Facebooks. I wouldn’t have been ■■■■■■■■ for dirt on them, just trying to get some info about what their interests might be.</p>
