Got a 2 on AP Government...

First if this is not in the right forum please move it, didn’t know what thread this is supposed to go in.

Anyway, I was terribly devastated, when I realized a failed a college exam as a SENIOR in high school (I already graduated btw), not mention embarrassed because I was the only senior in that class (other than another senior in a different hour) and there are probably lots of juniors that did way better than me…

Isn’t AP Government basically the easiest AP test? I’m just utterly shocked considering how hard I studied for that test and how well I did in the class, and now I have to do it all over again because the school doesn’t give any credit for a 2…

I already got accepted into Central Michigan University, and my orientation is tomorrow.

What if they kick me out of the school? What will I do? :'(

Please don’t laugh at or belittle me, this is serious.

AP scores have absolutely no bearing on your admittance to college. You have nothing to worry about. Indeed, if this was your only AP score, you don’t even have to report it.

None of the AP tests are ‘easy’. I’m in the minority on this discussion group that I’m not a big fan of the AP system at all anyway, but your college Government class will be different than your AP Government class was - less pressure to teach to the test and more of a chance to explore the subject IMHO.

Also, please be aware that a score on an AP test has virtually no relationship to how you will do in the same class in college - You could very well get an A in the college class even if you got a 1 on the AP exam.

Central is not sooo competitive to make your “2” score uniquely low. AP classes are meant to be a challenge. It’s a good sign that you are concerned. Keep being concerned, and motivated.

Don’t worry there is no chance that you will be kicked out of your college for an AP score. Good luck, continue to be motivated.

I was under the impression that you won’t receive any college credit/placement for the 2 on your AP exam, but you will still have the letter grade you earned. You will receive high school credit and that should be all you need for CMU.

If the school does not accept a score of 2 on the AP test, it’s like you never took the course. Won’t be on your college transcript. If you need the course you will take it in college.

By the way, some schools only give college credit for 4’s and 5’s other schools 3’s, 4’s and 5’s. If a student got a score of 3, some colleges would give credit and others none. Also, the amount of credit and corresponding course number can change school to school.

No one cares if you score a 2 or a 5 outside of class placement.

I definitely wouldn’t say AP Government is an easy AP class. A 3 was the highest score in my class of 30+, and it was the only AP test I haven’t got a 5 on. I knw a lot of really smart people who got 2s, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

You may very well have had a teacher that did not properly prepare you for the AP test.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I feel a lot better about it now.

There is no such thing as an easy AP test. All ap tests are curved such that a certain percent gets each score. 20% 5, 20% 4, 20% 3, 20% 2, and 20% 1 (I think this applies to most, if not all, ap tests). The difficulty of the ap test is mostly on how well the teacher prepares you for the test. A student that is well prepared by his class will obviously find it easier than someone else.

Don’t worry about it.
