Got a job for after graduation

The life chapters change. The waiting, anticipation, and anxiety remain the same. From Nutcracker casting to college admissions to life after graduation…

D has gotten a job offer for a job that she wants, job to begin after graduation. It’s a two-year job, by design for those looking to work for a couple of years before heading off to graduate/professional school. I am so happy for her. It’s a job where she wanted to be, doing the kinds of things she wanted to be doing.

I’ve been on proverbial pins and needles for the last three weeks, ever since, after two telephone interviews, they flew her down one night, put her up in a hotel, and then had her interview with six people the following day.

At least now she won’t have that weight upon her for her last semester.

Now I can return to worrying about my own business.

I have been waiting for those of us who have been here for over 4 years to start saying what our kids are going to do after college.

Thedad, you’re the first. Congratulations to your daughter and you.

Is your daughter returning to the west coast?

“Now I can return to worrying about my own business.”

LOL

Thank you DStark. No, she’ll be in D.C. with a well regarded off-the-Hill NGO, working a policy area that she virtually lunged at. Fortunately, D.C. is relatively easy to get to and a place TheMom and I like to visit.

Very nice.

I have to say reading this brought a smile to my face. :)

TheDad:

Big big congrats to the D! And could TheMom tag along to take pictures of you streaking across the airfield, etc…? I’m trying to picture it in my mind and failing. :)

Congratulations to your daughter, TheDad!

Wonderful news TheDad. Congrats. DC is a great place to live.

great news…next year will be our time to brag. perhaps we should make a thread ‘post all jobs here’ (Just like post all college admissions here).

Congratulations to your daughter. It is fun to follow all of these kids’ journeys. I remember her applying to college, then meeting at the Smith open house, her semester abroad and time in DC and now onto the next step successfully…a job she wants. Yippee…good for her! You get to rest now for two years until she goes through the grad school apps. It is always somethin’! :D

She’s certainly living large. Wonderful result. Congratulate her for me and the 'smudge.

Great news!!! Congrats to TheDaughter!!

Isn’t it wonderful?! Congrats for a job well done TheFamily!!

Congratulations!!! I’m happy for you and D! :)

Congratulations to TheSoonToGraduateDaughter! :)

I loved living in Washington, D.C. right out of college for my first job. Another fond memory: going to a small cafe to hear some exciting new singer named Emmy Lou Harris, who brought down the house. Reading strange news articles with the Woodward and Bernstein byline in the Washington Post. Eating lunch under cherry blossom trees with new colleagues from work.

I hope your D loves her new city. It’s amazing she knows so far in advance! What a relief to enjoy next semester.

Congrats to Thedaughter on her new job. Gosh, these 4 years are going by fast.

As to now getting back to minding your own business, not so fast.
Now it is on to the next phase; the first apartment. Where will she live, will she get an apartment with friends. You know that she is not going to be able to use those XL twin sheets anymore.
