<p>LEP= limited enrollment program, meaning that they limit the number of majors in that program. Engineering (in general) is one of the most competitive majors at UMD. They want students who will succeed in their program…the key is to take the coursework that is recommended, and to get as high of a GPA at UMD as you can. Once you prove that you are “chem e” material (for example, successfully make it through the required math and early Chemistry classes), you can apply for the major. The higher your GPA (especially after transferring to UMD) the better your chances for being admitted to the program. One effect of the LEP is that many employers, grad schools, etc. know that it is much harder to get into those majors at UMD…</p>
