I’m so confused. I accepted the admissions offer, and send in my FAFSA. When do I register for classes and get my ID? Also, exactly when in April can I accept my financial aid offer?

The school will send you information on when you can register?

You will be registering for classes in June or July after your orientation session. Orientations (per school–with breakout groups per program if applicable) begin in late spring and continue though the summer. You will get your ID card at orientation as well.

I don’t know anything about the next step you have to take but congratulations! Do you mind if I ask you which school you’re going to?

@lyndak Polytechnic School of Engineering

@uskoolfish Thanks, but what are breakout groups?

Not sure how Poly works, but daughter was a studio art major at Steinhardt. So she went to one of the Steinhardt orientations and then as part of the orientation all of the studio art majors were given a tour of the art building and met with advisors from the art department to register for classes and answer questions. The same was done for other specific majors as well. So at first all of the Steinhardt majors had a school wide orientation and then they broke out into smaller groups specific for their major.

I can speak for Poly students. Basically you now sit back and just wait. Send in your fafsa, deposits and you’re fine. You will register classes during july or so. You will need to submit your own photo for ID and that will take place during the summer if everything stays the same.

Try to make friends in the meantime or something that will also be going to Poly.
