<p>Yes, my son who is a freshman at Harvard (class 2011) did not submit the optional essay.</p>
<p>Quite frankly, he almost didn’t even apply to Harvard because he thought his chances of getting in were very slim so his whole Harvard application was sort of a last minute decision on December 31.</p>
