Hi im in my Junior year, and normally i am an overachieving student
but last semester (sem 1) i got careless and recieved a B on a semester grade.
I know that “straight A’s” are helpful for colleges, but since that bubble has popped, i’m wondering if i could still get into the colleges i want.
I would like most to go to Princeton, but i am being realistic
the next on my list would be UC Berkeley, but the rep that came to my school said that out of state students have a harder time getting into UC Berkeley.
Seeing as there are a lots of factors to consider, i just wanna ask one question? do i still ahve a favorable chance of getting in UC Berkeley or any Ivey’s without straight A’s?

Yes; Ivies, yes.

Careless B. How the hell do you live with yourself?

Wow, I hope you’re being sarcastic, Duper… o_O

YES, you can still get into Berkeley, Ivies, and any college you want. Just think, now your transcript doesn’t look at robotic and freaky! (I don’t know, if I was an admissions officer I might be a little scared by so many As with no Bs…“WHAT?! Does this person have a life?!”…but of course, that’s just the way I force myself to look at it so that I don’t freak out of my couple of Bs…)

Don’t worry. One B won’t make a bit of difference.

actually, with the struggling economy nobody really knows how people’s chances for UC berkeley will be affected. A lot of decisions will be made in the coming weeks/months about how many students should be enrolled, etc. One B for Princeton won’t hurt you at all. just make sure you have high test scores, and I think you’ll be almost set.

Are you for real? One B and you’re wondering whether you could still get into the colleges you want? You need to take another look at the people feeding you college advice.

Anyway… Princeton and Berkeley OOS are very difficult to get into. More depends on your scores, ECs, essays, and other factors… Usually, I reply sarcastically to threads like this, but today I’m not in the mood for some reason… its fine. Don’t worry about it.

As a personal, real life example, I got into Yale SCEA with two B’s and a transcript littered with A-'s. Now get some sleep and give it your best shot.

No, you should just get your McDonald’s application now.

Similar to Griffon, my transcript has two B+s on it, quite a few A-s (and I didn’t take honors bio or chem freshman and sophomore years, thus I didn’t have the “most rigorous curriculum” possible) and I still got in SCEA to Stanford. Don’t sweat it.

■■■■■ yeah dude honest to god 1 B wont kill u. Ivies or not. The “holy truth” for you is, you need to calm down.

Like the posters above, having one B has not destroyed your chances. Be grateful :)

I hope your applying to Brown, because you really need God right now. A B like in Bold. Sigh.

Game over.

Uh oh!! B alert!!!

haha…ur fine

a B?! wow you really suck.

off to community college with you!

oh no!! a B!! you just ruined your future right there. how could you do such a thing?

So much sarcasm T_T.

Don’t stress, a B will definitely not butcher your application. I can relate to how you feel, but calm down, be confident, and just continue to do well in school.

LOLOL Thx guys. Its not really me thats worried its just my mom freaks out at B’s (shes azn… not trying to be racist here but…), and i’ve gotten into the “B=Bad” mindset. Sarcasm appreciated too, very funny comments “mcdonalds” lol. I wanna work there part time too…
I realize now this thread probably sounded stupid, but what with my peers and their all A’s and stuff, i got overworried
Thx XP
